Three years ago, we at Avant Tecno came to the conclusion that we should invest in export to the United States, which led to us establishing the export company Avant Techno USA. We went to the United States with the notion that the euro cannot keep getting stronger endlessly and that the economy in America is more flexible in readjusting itself than any other country in the world.
“We have been able to compensate for the collapse of Russian trade with export to the west.”
When the anticipated changes in exchange rate became a reality and the euro began to weaken in relation to the dollar, our opportunities were further improved. You could say that we are on the right track and it was a good move on our part to get an early start. Our retail network in the United States is already fairly extensive, and we have been able to compensate for the collapse of Russian trade with export to the west. In addition to this, the American market is so massive that we only need to seize a tiny sliver of it to achieve significant growth.
Avant Tecno is aiming for competiveness and efficiency through investments. Over the course of a year, we have invested approximately one million euros in production machinery. Avant also recently purchased the Pilkington industrial property situated on a neighbouring site. We need additional space since our operations have expanded significantly. Some of the premises have been rented out, and we are looking to find even more tenants. All in all, the real estate acquisition ensures that Avant will have room to expand in Ylöjärvi far into the future.
“Development is an absolute requirement for success.”
We believe in Finnish expertise and work, which is why it is easier to develop production here instead of moving it somewhere else. Avant has manufactured and developed its products for over two decades. Development is an absolute requirement for success – there is no better recipe.
The Tampere city region is the best place in Finland for this type of industry – the area is compact and features numerous institutions of higher education. The Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere produce engineers and financial experts, respectively. This is also a great place to live, since we have never run into a situation where one of our employees would not want to live here.
Avant Tecno, a manufacturer of multi-functional wheeled loaders, has grown steadily over the past years. The company's turnover for 2014 was approximately €82 million, with almost 80% of this attributable to export. Avant has a little more than 200 employees. Avant loaders are sold in 50 countries across the globe.
